The watch case is only 40mm wide but wears larger given the widely spaced lugs and cushion shape of the case. At 8mm thick, the case is very svelte on the wrist. I would even argue that this is a watch for larger wrists given the short, but straight lug positioning. Over the dial and caseback are sapphire crystals.

The second element of this larger idea is related to product. If people have this new found idea to buy watches for kids, then they need to have a good idea of what to buy. It is true that many watches out there right now would be good for kids, but I really think they either needed to be touted as such, or at least packaged as such. Most kid's watches should be smaller than those for full-grown adults, less expensive, but at the same time items that assert similar values. If you want to buy clothes or toys for a kid, you know where to go. If you want to buy a watch, you are much more on your own. The industry needs to package the concept much better. This means new ranges of watches for kids or repackaging existing products for kids. Don’t make the consumer work too hard to find the right item. Give them easy choices that range from fun to formal, sporty to silly. And make them more mainstream. Brands like Swatch are an obvious choice to start all this.

While I know that “High Performance” is the name of a clothing collection for active urban office goers, it is an almost insultingly bland term. I would venture to say that it is even worse than the label “professional” on a watch dial. High Performance is merely an adjective. Consumers should demand to know why they are high performance rather than merely know that the brand would like for you to think they are. This type of blatant disregard for consumer intelligence irritates me – though it is mostly our fault. We consumers have allowed product makers to place baseless claims on their goods for so long that it is practically expected nowadays. We have become a culture of mostly unspecialized individuals, tending to rely on product makers to tell us how good their products are rather than the other way around. High Performance is practically an opinion. One that originated in a marketing meeting designed to arouse the notion of all day comfort and utility. If I made this watch I would remove the term from the dial and replace it with the more steadfast claim of “Works Just Fine” in bright red print. Enough about that.

Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW Watch Review Wrist Time Reviews

One of the top watches that I was excited to see at SIHH 2012 was the updated version of the A. Lange & Sohne Datograph. The original Datograph from quite a while ago was an awesome watch and one of Lange's best aside from their iconic Lange 1 range. It is one of the only Lange watches you could sort of call sporty, and it was I believe the only Lange watch with a black dial. Those high contrast chronograph subdials and that smoothly integrated chronograph along with the big date indicator made for a great look.

Swatch Group's Tissot came out with the T-Touch in about 1999 I believe. It was probably the first watch that I know of that utilized a touch screen to access some of the functions. Now over a decade later, the T-Touch is one of the brand's strongest sellers. Only recently have you started to see touch screen watches in lower-priced variants across other brands. The Swatch Touch retails for about 9, much less than its bigger Swatch Group family brother which averages about ,000.

Our model: Oliver Knowles wears a single breasted suit in Alfred Brown wool, tailored on Saville Row by Timothy Everest. Cufflinks are by Mulberry, tie by Drakes and shirt by Hawes and Curtis. Grey and blue always seem to go together pretty perfectly. The cuffs are tapered well and the blazer creates a good shaped silhouette from shoulder to waist, which accentuates a gentleman's physique. Someone once said a woman sees a man in a well tailored suit in the same way a man sees lingerie on a woman...some food for thought. Notice small details like the dimple at the top of the tie where it meets the knot...a lesson in the finer arts of male attire.

Here is some shameless "Stallonage." Sly dons a Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec GMT watch during the European premier of the Expendables II movie (in Germany I think). I must admit that I am really looking forward to seeing the film - especially because Arnold will be more prominently featured in it. Hopefully he will get some battle damage to show his metallic Schwarzenegger innards.

Car and watch tie-ins are far from uncommon but more often than not are merely the addition of a logo or an element designed to look as if it were part of a car. Typically such elements end up looking like a tacked-on afterthought and not an integral part of the design. The M21 stands out because it doesn't necessarily look like a "car watch". UNIQ was able to select identifiable elements of the vintage car while combining them into a cohesive design which is capable of standing on its own. With no knowledge of the GAZ M21, the M21 watch would likely be seen as a good-looking watch with a retro vibe. With its modern 44mm size and color scheme, the M21 is a watch that can easily dress up or down. The flat caseback sits comfortably while the waterproof leather strap conforms nicely to the wrist. The 13.5mm thick case feels light but not cheap and doesn't move around on the wrist. A stainless butterfly deployant clasp closes firmly and is engraved with the M21 logo.

Ernst Benz as a brand is many things - with an interesting assortment of watches and celebrity relationships. For me, Ernst Benz is most importantly the brand that uses the Disney font for their logo. Who else can claim that? Now you'll never look at their logo the same way again. For review I have been strapped to their new Chronolunar Officer - a steel beast with a heart of gears.
